Two framed engravings of examples of architectural ornamentation from a 19th century edition collection of prints edited by Charles Claesen for Michel Joseph Napoléon Liénard.

The Specimens de la Decoration et de L’Ornementation au XIX Sicle par Liénard (Specimens of Decoration and Ornamentation in the XIX Century by Liénard) approved by the council of improvement of the teaching of the arts of drawing in Belgium and registered on the official list of models likely to be recommended to academies and schools of drawing by Michel Liénard. Liénard was a French sculptor, artist and ornamentalist whose notable designs include, among others, the Fontaine des-Arts-et-Metiers, Square Émile-Chautemps in Paris; the Brewer Fountain in Boston; Fountain in the English garden in Geneva; and Stebel Fountain in Liverpool, England.

  • Engravings have been professionally framed in an antique wood and plaster frame with new glass

  • Some chips in the plaster along the edges of the frame, consistent with age and use

  • A photocopy of the cover of the original book has been printed and is included in a pocket on the back side of the frame

  • Ready to hang
