Antique Spanish Black Clay Water Jug

Sold

Wonderful 19th-century handmade black clay botijo (water jug). The utilitarian vessel features a wide belly, handle, and spout from which to drink, and is a traditional porous clay pot originally used for carrying water in the Catalan region of Spain. Due to their porosity, the jugs are well-known for their ability to keep water very cool.

Beautiful pieces of art, thanks in part to their unique matte charcoal gray-black patina, these jugs are great stand-alone conversation pieces on a table, shelf, or kitchen counter.
