Potter's Boards
These sturdy vintage pottery ware boards were once used by the J. & G. Meakin Manufacturing Company for moving plates, bowls, and other dishware from one place to another while they were drying or being glazed and/or decorated. Featuring a one-of-a-kind patina that cannot be replicated, these old boards are now our favorite means of displaying items in the home. Hang them as shelves using our custom-made iron brackets to hold your dishes in the kitchen, collections in the office, or towels and toiletries in the bathroom.
J. & G. Meakin was a pottery manufacturing company founded in 1851 in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England. Known for their vast quantities of ironstone produced for the domestic English market, as well as exports to Australia, New Zealand, and the U.S. The firm was eventually taken over by the Wedgwood Group in 1970.
Boards are constructed of solid wood and have naturally aged over time resulting in a beautiful time-worn patina
Boards are strong and sturdy and are not warped
Each board features its own unique character marks including visible wood knots and slight discoloration
Remnants of original pottery dust is present; boards can be sealed to preserve the look, or simply cleaned with water to remove the dust

Overall signs of wear consistent with age and use
Custom-made iron brackets are designed to hold up to 200 lbs per board when installed correctly.
