9 Drawer Mercantile Storage Cabinet
This unique antique storage cabinet, originally from a French pharmacy, features nine large drawers and a distinct “deconstructed” look. Once built into a wall, the cabinet was cut out of the building when removed, leaving an unfinished, open backside. You can keep its story intact by using it as is or add a paneled, finished wood back for a more polished appearance.
This versatile piece would be perfect in a kitchen as a freestanding island or a deep workspace against the wall. It also makes a handsome console under the television, a sideboard in the dining room, or a deep dresser in the bedroom.
Found in France, from the late 19th century
Original iron cup pull hardware is present and has been cleaned
Made of old pine
The cabinet has been washed of its original dark stain and shiny, outdated shellac; remnants of the original finish remain, adding to its character and depth
The cabinet has been top-coated for durability
Drawers glide smoothly
The drawers are slightly different in size, but the insides are approximately 22” D x 19” W. The top row is 4.75” H (inside), and the two bottom rows are 6.75” H.
