Antique Belgian Slant Top Writing Desk
Did this writing desk once belong to a school master? A novelist? A secretary in a bookkeeper’s office? While we may never know who its former owner was, we do know we are smitten with its turned legs and petite inkwell drawer.
Constructed from European pine, the desk features a hinged slant top which opens to reveal generous storage. Both the storage space and the inkwell drawer have been lined with a lively sapphire blue floral wallpaper (as found). Whether used as its intended purpose, or as an accent or bedside table, we’re sure the desk will infuse your home with inspiration and character.
Found in Belgium, late 19th century
Desk features a lovely chestnut-brown stain
Front two legs are hand-turned, while the back two legs are tapered
Single drawer specifically designed to hold a fountain pen and inkwell
Light scratches and stains consistent with age and use
Strong and sturdy
Approximately 49” L x 23 5/8” W x 33.25” H
Floor to apron measures 25” H
