Antique French Wooden Fragment Candlestick
Stunning French candlesticks, carved from wood and finished with traces of original gilding. Each one is a sculptural fragment from a larger ecclesiastical or architectural piece—designed to be viewed from one side, with a flat reverse meant to rest against a wall, niche, or altar.
The hand-carved details include scrolling flourishes, fleur-de-lis motifs, and floral crests, all softened and timeworn by nearly two centuries of candlelight and devotion. Layers of old paint, exposed wood, and dripped wax create a surface rich in texture and history.
Sold individually, these candlesticks make striking decorative accents on a mantel, console, or styled bookshelf—bringing a touch of 19th-century French craftsmanship into any room.
Found in France, early - mid-19th century
Candlesticks show signs of wear consistent with age
The candlesticks are crafted from carved wood, with traces of gilding
This listing is for 1 (one) candlestick:
Small Candlestick (light): The candlestick is coated in wonderfully patinated white paint, with hints of the original gilding. Measures approximately 6” W x 2.5” D x 14” H.
