Georgian Flip Top Demilune Console Table

Sold

A well-proportioned antique George III period folding demi-to-round tea or card accent table featuring a planked half-moon top over a curved apron raised upon four square tapered legs finished with brass feet caps. The table’s folding flip-top converts the demilune into a lovely round table when fully open. The fourth center leg at the back of the table extends to reveal a small drawer, that once would have kept cards and such handy for playing games!

Although a very functional accent table, it has a few “quirks”. Having been well-loved over the years, the table has been skillfully repaired (many times!), including recently by our own Carpenter Drue. Despite these oddities, the table has survived for over 200 years and has a lot of life left to live!

  • Found in England, circa 1790

  • The top has been bleached and shows remnants of the original paint around the edges

  • The lower portion of the table has patinated over time resulting in a lovely weathered appearance

  • The table extension leg doesn’t slide smoothly and takes a bit of “wiggling” to open

  • One of the table’s hinges pulled some of the wood away when it detached from the table, and though this has been addressed, the top doesn’t sit fully flush and level when opened

  • Overall wear consistent with age and use

  • Overall measurements approximately 41” W diameter x 27” H when open

  • Measures 20 3/8” W x 41 1/4” L x 27” H when closed

  • Floor to apron 22 1/4” H
