Antique Georgian Horse Tack Cupboard
This 2-door, 3-drawer Georgian wardrobe, originally a horse tack cupboard that once stored equipment for caring for and riding horses, embodies early 19th-century craftsmanship. This handsome piece features raised paneled doors and sides, with reeded detailing in the section between the two doors, adding a touch of refined detail. Crown molding crowns the top, enhancing its stately presence.
The wardrobe bears a rich medium-dark stain that adds depth and warmth to any room. Chunky wooden mushroom knobs and brass escutcheons on the drawers and doors provide both functionality and a touch of historical authenticity. The wardrobe stands on block feet, ensuring stability and durability. The base of the wardrobe includes three narrow drawers for additional storage, with two longer drawers flanking a smaller drawer in the center.
Designed in two pieces for easy transport, the upper section is equipped with wooden peg hooks and a brass rod (not original to the piece), providing ample hanging space for long dresses and coats. Paneled on all sides, this piece has a polished presence and combines its historical equestrian origins with practical storage.
