English Shop Counter

A large shop counter dating from the late 19th Century found in England. A real beauty that must have been commissioned for a very impressive retail shop due to its unusual and elaborate design. Most recently, it was found in a barn and had been used as a workbench for many years, as is often the case, so it has lots of wonderful character.

It features decorative columns, paneled front and sides, and a unique recessed kickboard. We have left it as much as possible in the condition it came to us to allow the piece to tell its own story. The rear side has ample storage provided by two drawers and cubby shelves. This old counter would make a stunning and unique centerpiece in a kitchen.

  • Please note:

    • There is a piece missing from the front right-hand column

    • There is a small hole in one of the paneled sides

    • A small section of a corner of the countertop has been broken off (a very long time ago)

  • The original hardwood top has many drill holes and oil stains (which we have cleaned)

  • The top has been sealed

  • There are small traces of green paint

  • Approximately 114” long x 27” wide x 36” high
