Salvaged 19th Century Hungarian Zinc Roof Fragment, Large

$175.00

The use of finials as decorative elements atop rooftops dates to Asian cultures as long ago as 700 A.D. Capturing dramatic elegance, while retaining its functional purpose of covering a gap in a roofline, zinc finials can be seen gracing the tops of buildings and homes across Europe. Smitten with its whimsical form, we now think this beautiful architectural fragment is one-of-a-kind sculptural element to be displayed either inside the home or out.

  • Found in Hungary, 19th century

  • Finial rests atop a (detached) custom stand constructed of wood salvaged from a local McKinney historic building

  • Wear consistent with age, removal from roof, and exposure to the elements over time

  • Overall dimensions approximately 18 3/4” W diameter at its widest point x 24” H (25 1/2” H including base)

  • Wooden base measures 11” W diameter x 1 1/2” H
