Salvaged French Window Shutters in Casing

We’re firm believers that layering pieces of architectural salvage, such as beautiful old doors and shutters, into a new home is the easiest way to connect us to the past and create a storied sense of style. Swathed in a dreamy hue of our favorite color, “French Blue”, this pair of reclaimed window shutters will do just that. Why settle for new, mass-produced (built-in) closet doors, when you can instantly add character and quintessential French country charm to your home by installing these shutters instead?

Handcrafted from solid wood, these paneled shutters once surrounded windows on a home in the French countryside. Layers of the original light blue paint have weathered over time resulting in the perfect amount of chippy-ness. Each shutter opens to reveal a large space inside, ready to be installed in the kitchen, bathroom, or at the end of the hall enclosing a custom-built closet or pantry in your home.

  • Found in France, dating from the 19th century

  • Original blue paint has worn in areas revealing the natural wood beneath

  • Handcrafted from solid wood and constructed using mortise and tenon and pegged joinery

  • Typical separation of planks, minor cracks and light staining throughout, consistent with age and use

  • Overall dimensions approximately 44 1/2” W x 2 1/2” D x 95 1/4” H

  • Shutter opening measures 32 1/4” W x 66” H

Available for pick up, local delivery, and nationwide shipping.
